Debjit Mukherjee: Big blow to Modi-Shah in connection with Niti Aayog report. 38.09 percent of Gujarat’s population is undernourished. Almost half of Gujarat’s rural population is 44.45 percent malnourished, while the rate is 28.97 percent in urban areas. Lagging states like Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have fared better than Gujarat in terms of malnutrition.
On the other hand, according to Niti Aayog, 23.30 percent of the population in Gujarat is deprived of housing. Kerala, Punjab and Tamil Nadu fared better than Gujarat. The situation is worse in rural areas. Because 35.52 percent of the rural population is deprived of housing, which is higher than other major states like Haryana, Punjab, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
