Cauvery water distribution: 12-hour bandh in entire Karnataka

Debjit Mukherjee: Pro-Kannada organizations and farmers’ organizations called a Karnataka bandh – from 6 am to 6 pm – on Friday to protest the release of Cauvery water. Police have issued section 144 in different parts of the state. However, the Auto Rickshaw and Hail Riders Association of Karnataka supported the ban.

However, Karnataka State Government Transport Corporation and Bangalore Transport Corporation bus services will continue to operate. Emergency services like banks, hospitals, ambulances will remain open. Parties like BJP, JD(S) also supported the bandh.
