Debjit Mukherjee: A group of agitated mob tried to attack Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh’s ancestral house in Imphal on Thursday night. Security guards burst tear gas shells and fired at point blank range. Electricity was cut off in the entire area. However, no casualty or major damage was reported.
According to Imphal police sources, no one was present at the Chief Minister’s ancestral house at the time of the attack. The Chief Minister himself does not even live in that house. He lives in another house in Imphal and it is under tight security.
